Welcome to WASTE Advisers

WASTE Advisers, a globally recognized Malawian NGO, develops, and monitors sustainable and contextual systems for liquid and solid waste management. The organization opened its Blantyre offices in 2014 as a branch of WASTE Netherlands and then later converted into an independent, locally registered NGO. WASTE Advisers has a strong local supervisory board and is registered with the NGO Board, CONGOMA, WESNET and MCCCI. In collaboration with international partners, WASTE Advisers has designed, tested, and implemented various sustainable business models for liquid and solid waste management across Malawi. These technologies and solutions engage private sector and Council across the entire value chain, including containment, emptying and transport, treatment, and valorisation. As such, we have extensive experience integrating solid waste and fecal sludge value chains, as doing so optimizes the resource recovery and economic viability of both value chains by exploiting the synergies between them. In addition to theoretical and academic experience, WASTE Advisers has extensive contextual experience and understanding of grassroots problems and has developed holistic, inclusive, and innovative solutions in Blantyre, Lilongwe, Zomba, Mangochi, Liwonde and Chikwawa. We have successfully managed over €6m worth of projects and consultancies since our establishment in Malawi in 2014.
